History of
FRANCILUX

More than a reference firm, FRANCILUX, located 267 rue St Léonard in Liège-BELGIUM, is a real establishment in the orthopedic environment in the city of Liege, but also in Belgium, and all of Europe.

Founded in 1946 by Jean Englebert, this firm dedicates its energy and its know-how to people with foot ailments by producing orthopedic insoles and custom-made shoes.

The whole Francilux firm's story begins with Jean Englebert's cleverness and his innovative mind.

Returning to his old shoe maker trade, he opens a shoemaker shop shortly after the second world war.

Concerned about his customers' comfort, he created the first leather orthopedic insole, which until then had been made of iron.

Facing the sudden success obtained, he took out a patent and devoted himself to finding new orthopedics items.

So in 1961 he created the famous "Babouchette" sandals that straighten deformed toes. As well as lots of other items.

Thanks to all his inventions dedicated to relieving peoples‘ suffering from feet or back ailments, Mr Jean Englebert was awarded the title of Knight of Merit and Contrivance and received gold medals in Several Contrivance shows.

Little by little, he was replaced by his son Jean-Claude, who also had a great sense for hard work and innovation.

Standing securely with his know-how and incomparable service, Jean-Claude Englebert faces the future with confidence. Together with his son Cedric, they will secure Francilux's future, expecting maybe the fourth Englebert's generation at your feet's... service !
